- Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced last night that he would be vacating the world titles that he currently holds after defeating Manny Pacquiao via unanimous decision last night. He noted that he wanted to give other fighters a chance to win those belts.
"I don't know if it will be Monday or maybe a couple weeks," Mayweather told ESPN. "I'll talk to my team and see what we need to do. Other fighters need a chance. Give other fighters a chance. I'm not greedy.
"I'm a world champion in two different weight classes. It's time to let other fighters fight for the belt."
- We noted earlier that ESPN host and long-time WWE fan Michelle Beadle tweeted last night that she was done being a WWE fan because of Triple H's support of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. writing, "I've loved @WWE for a long time. But @TripleH and his love for a serial abuser is too much. I'm turning in my fan card. #WasFunWhileItLasted"
The Wrap reports that Beadle and CNN sports correspondent Rachel Nichols were banned from last night's fight. Beadle stated that her tweet had nothing to do with not being credentialed, writing, "They've given me great seats to amazing events over the years. I'm grateful. But I'm also done now."
While Mayweather's publicist, Kelly Swanson, denied the allegations on Twitter, Nichols released the following statement regarding being barred from the event:
After asking tough questions of Floyd Mayweather on my program, I was not offered press credentials to cover tonight's fight. In an email dated April 23, I was told I would only be credentialed for the run-up events through the week, but in bold, italic letters the email stated "you do not have any access Saturday to any services or events." A CNN producer revisited the issue with the Mayweather camp on April 29, confirming to Mayweather's publicist that I would be in Las Vegas, and the publicist replied that I would still be denied a fight night credential. I was told the same thing when I arrived at the credential office in person on May 1, by two separate officials, in front of several other people. It doesn't surprise me that now, after facing significant backlash, the Mayweather camp has reversed its position. But despite this, and other outside parties generously offering me their seats, I will not attend the fight. I will also not let fear of retaliation prevent me from asking the tough questions the public deserves answers to in the future.

- Boxing legend Mike Tyson was not impressed with the Mayweather - Pacquiao fight, tweeting:

Floyd Mayweather made history Saturday night. In the biggest fight in well over 15 years, he soundly and decisively defeated Manny Pacquiao in a battle dubbed "Fight of the Century." Mayweather also moved to 48-0, improving an already perfect record.
Mayweather started the fight off fast, winning the first two rounds, landing at a much higher rate than Pacquiao. As the fight continued, Pacquiao found success working Mayweather's body while up against the ropes. Eventually Pacquiao got far too comfortable moving in a straight line, and fell prey to Mayweather's excellent counter attacks and size advantage.
While Mayweather took home a decisive win, Pacquiao was never completely out of the fight per se. He had the sporadic excellent round several times throughout rounds 3-12, but couldn't put it together consistently enough to stifle the game plan of Mayweather. Heading in to the final round, all Mayweather needed to do was survive.
The scorecards were read, and Mayweather took home victory number 48. He's one shy of the landmark that Rocky Marciano set, reaching 49-0. Mayweather has one fight left on his contract, which he says will happen in September. He also said he won't seek 50-0, and will instead retire after fulfilling that deal. It's quite likely that Mayweather is leveraging to get a huge deal for potential retirement fight.
After the bout, Mayweather jawed at some fans who took issue with him, but then turned a 180, totally respecting Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather said "Now I see why (Pacquiao) is at the pinnacle of the sport of boxing. He pushed me."
Pacquiao, on the other hand, drew criticism from fans and media. While being interviewed by Max Kellerman, Pacquiao said that he thought he won the fight. Kellerman, in complete disbelief, simply barked out "Why?!" Pacquiao also stated that Mayweather wasn't bigger than him. He, in fact, is.
Mayweather cemented an already impressive legacy. You don't have to like the man for his decisions out of the ring, but his accomplishments inside of it speak volumes. He put an end to a six-year rivalry with a victory in an exceptional fight (to some), and walked out with a nine figure paycheck. And Kane didn't even have to interfere in this main event.
