World Heavyweight Champion -- Dolph Ziggler and his impending challengers, Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger, possess distinct personalities and talents that make them a trio of unique rivals in WWE. Yet the three -- Superstars preparing for the Triple Threat Match at Extreme Rules 2013 have more in common than a mutual loathing of one another.

Each competitor's past is intertwined with the others, from past alliances to historic battles in the ring. Untangling their mingled tales could -- provide clues as to which Superstar has momentum on their side heading into the upcoming pay-per-view, or it could shine a light on a specific grappler's shortcomings as they prepare to compete for Ziggler's coveted title.

Which Superstar's seemingly innocuous detail could have a big impact on the Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules 2013? Check out the "Tale of the Tape" infographic below. Then, post your thoughts in the comments or sound off now on Facebook and Twitter.

Infograph » Brock Lesnar vs Triple-H (Steel Cage Match) [Official Report]
It took Brock Lesnar three matches and a -- tumultuous year under two separate WWE contracts, but on May 19, The Anomaly may finally feel at home for the first time since returning the -- squared circle. That’s because at Extreme Rules, the 266-pound destroyer will face archival Triple H inside the confines of a steel cage. While -- Triple H may have more experience competing in WWE cages, Lesnar has a much different perspective.

The flesh-tearing tendencies of chain-link fence might not offer Lesnar the same solace as the woodlands of Jackson Hole, Wyo., but there is little reason to believe the burly bruiser and his adviser Paul Heyman were anything but calculating in demanding Lesnar vs. Triple H III take place in a cage. “The Beast Incarnate,” after all, saw an eight-sided cage fight or two during his eight-year sabbatical from WWE, during which he ascended the heavyweight ranks of the Ultimate Fighting Championship faster than any other competitor in the history of mixed martial arts.

The steel walls on a standard UFC Octagon measure 6 feet tall. Gates are built into two sides of the structure, allowing both combatants’ corner men to enter the Octagon between rounds, and the fighting surface area measures 750 square feet. According to the UFC website, the structure was designed with fighters’ safety in mind.

The well-being of Superstars, in contrast, was far from a primary concern in the construction of WWE’s steel cage. The cage’s steel walls tower over even the tallest of Superstars, clearing the 7-foot tall Big Show by three feet or more. There is only one door in a WWE steel cage, controlled by a WWE official, and instead of vinyl padding on top, a dangerous steel trestle frames the perimeter and is intended to be used as a weapon. The WWE ring measures approximately 400 square feet meaning less opportunity for fighters to stall or avoid locking up.

It’s clear these two steel domains are not perfectly analogous, but are the disparities between them enough to invalidate the experience Lesnar gleaned while dominating the UFC?

Starting with his Extreme Rules Match against John Cena last April and continuing through to his No Holds Barred Match against The Game at WrestleMania, Lesnar has yet to compete under a standard set of WWE rules since making his return to the ring. As such, the former three-time WWE Champion has enjoyed the freedom to bully and batter his opponents however he’s seen fit.

In his three bouts, Lesnar has not shied from bringing his fights outside the squared circle. The WWE Universe remembers the sight of The Anomaly heinously trapping Cena in their bout last year, hanging the Cenation leader by his feet from the ring post and using him as a heavy bag. At The Grandest Stage of Them All, some of Lesnar’s most dangerous offense from repeat overhead throws to a table-smashing suplex occurred outside the ring. At Extreme Rules, these options will not be available to The Anomaly unless he and Triple H somehow escape the cage.

Even though the steel cage will likely keep Lesnar vs. Triple H III from degenerating into a sprawling ringside brawl, the match conditions could nonetheless favor Lesnar for one specific reason: Triple H won’t be able to use steel steps. If The Anomaly has shown an Achilles’ heel since making his return, it hasn’t so much been lingering effects of his bout with diverticulitis but, rather, the steel steps.

Cena threw everything he had at Lesnar during their match last year, but it wasn’t until after the Cenation leader delivered a steel chain to the head and then an Attitude Adjustment onto the steps that The Anomaly could be pinned. Similarly, The Game managed to keep Lesnar’s shoulders down at WrestleMania only after he DDT’d and then Pedigreed the former UFC Heavyweight Champion onto the steps, which had been brought into the ring. Barring some unforeseen incident in which the steel cage door comes unlocked, Lesnar need not prepare for a run-in with the steel steps.

As the heated Lesnar–Triple H rivalry approaches its endgame, the WWE Universe is left to wonder exactly how the addition of a steel cage will affect the third battle in this treacherous war. Will Lesnar’s background in MMA and, in turn, his experience competing in an eight-sided cage work to his advantage? Or does it risk doing just the opposite, fostering a false sense of complacency in a match format that has historically punished anyone foolish enough to let down their guard for even a second?

May 19 will represent Lesnar’s first time in a classic WWE steel cage since summer 2003 and his first time fighting in a cage of any sort since his last UFC fight in December 2011. By comparison, Triple H is among WWE’s most experienced Superstars when it comes to Steel Cage Matches.

Extreme Rules 2013 » Triple H vs Brock Lesnar (Steel Cage Match)
Triple H narrowly avoided early -- retirement at the hands of Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, but if The Game thought his trouble with -- Lesnar would end at The Grandest Stage of Them All, he had another thing coming.

Having split two -- notoriously high-impact battles at SummerSlam and WrestleMania, The King of Kings and "The Beast Incarnate" will settle the score once and for all at Extreme Rules, and the rubber match will be held in the most inhospitable of environments: the steel cage. The addition of steel to this already perilous rivalry was the brainchild of Lesnar’s camp, as outlined in a challenge to Triple H on April 15.

In goading The King of Kings to accept The Anomaly’s challenge to a third fight, Lesnar associate Paul Heyman appealed to Triple H’s sense of pride, noting that The Game’s WrestleMania win merely brought him even with Lesnar. Heyman then focused on the WWE COO’s courage, acknowledging that steel cage matches offer neither protection nor mercy for the Superstars who compete within even if they’ve already been incapacitated.

Despite the dire implications, Triple H readily agreed to the terms of the match in a confrontation with Heyman on the April 22 edition of Raw. He additionally fired a salvo Lesnar’s way by Pedigreeing his envoy, Heyman, moments after accepting the challenge.

Although The Game’s in-ring career will not formally be on the line as it was during his No Holds Barred brawl with Lesnar at WrestleMania, there is little reason to believe Triple H will approach the fight as though it’s anything less than career-threatening. As Heyman himself explained, inside the unforgiving steel cage, “a career can end in a nanosecond.”

Among the most base and wicked structures in WWE, the tried-and-true classic steel cage is perhaps the only venue with the gravitas necessary to host such a deeply personal tiebreaker. Even though it may lack the fanfare of more modernized match formats, any longtime ring observer knows that the dangerous steel cage offers plenty of opportunity for combatants to brutalize one another.

How will the result of their most recent bout the absurdly physical No Holds Barred Match affect both Superstars’ preparation for May 19? Will the fact Triple H won that encounter give him a psychological edge, or will it only make The Anomaly more focused and driven heading into Extreme Rules? Furthermore, Lesnar hasn’t competed in a Steel Cage Match in years, but his famous sabbatical from the squared circle gave way to a different kind of caged combat in the form of mixed martial arts. Will Lesnar’s Octagon experience represent a strength or weakness inside the realm of WWE?

If their last two bouts were any indication, Triple H vs. Lesnar III will be a hellish encounter for its participants and an unadulterated spectacle for the WWE Universe. With the bonus ingredient of a steel cage, only time will tell just how much more extreme this riveting rivalry can grow.

The Rock spoke to Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg and -- discussed his upcoming reality series, The Hero. During the interview, The Rock -- admitted that his match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29 may have been his last.
"Possibly, to be honest with you," Rock replied when asked if his match against John Cena at WrestleMania 29 was his last.

"The goal three years ago was I sat down with Vince McMahon and strategized about it, about three WrestleMania's back to back... I committed myself to the company and I was very proud of that moment. It didn't matter if I lost or I did the job, but it was an honor to do the honors. There is no better way to give back... then by doing the honors."

Rock also noted Cena was "hands down" the right guy to lose to.

"People wanted to build me to a certain place, and then do things the right way. And for the business that I love, it was an awesome way, it was the best way to give back. Was it my last match? Possibly. I'm really not too sure, and I wouldn't rule it out."

Rock was also asked if the original plan was to build for a rubber match with Cena at next year's WrestleMania in New Orleans.

"No, not at all," Rock replied, before admitting that there were plans for a match with Brock Lesnar. "The original plan was possibly Brock and myself. That was the next thing that made sense to me because I love Brock, we've been friends for over a decade now and we can have a great athletic match. But then I had torn my two tendons on my pelvis and I had to fly home that day, and we couldn't do what we wanted to do on RAW that day. So... possibly, possibly with Brock down the road."

The Rock also said that he talked to Vince McMahon and Triple H the night of WrestleMania about his injury. He said that he and Vince agreed in the locker room that he wouldn't be at RAW the next day, and that he got a call from one of the writers the next day about issuing a statement on RAW, which he did.

Extreme Rules 2013 » John Cena vs Ryback (WWE Championship)
According To WWE.COM, John Cena persevered through a nearly 18-month title drought before -- reclaiming the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, but if Ryback has his way, Cena’s 11th -- WWE Title reign will come to a quick and unceremonious end at Extreme Rules.

WWE.com has confirmed that the bald-headed shredder arguably -- WWE’s most dominate competitor of the last year will receive first crack at the new WWE Champion at the May 19 pay-per-view. As exciting as this first-time singles contest would be under ordinary conditions, the title bout is made all the more intriguing by its personal overtones and Ryback’s claim that he is looking to break out of The Champ’s sizable shadow.
It was only last October that Cena labeled his Extreme Rules opponent as the “change” that the WWE Universe craved. At the time, the Shell-Shocking Superstar was on the verge of unseating then WWE Champion CM Punk, but bizarre circumstances ranging from a crooked ref to outside interference from the likes of The Shield repeatedly prevented him from doing so. Since his last title opportunity in January, Ryback has slowly drifted out of WWE Championship contention, while Cena’s career has taken the opposite path.

Following his shocking ambush of Cena on the April 8 Raw, the new No. 1 contender has stopped just short of outright blaming The Champ for his own stalled momentum, although he has questioned the Cenation leader’s loyalty. Noting that he came to Cena’s rescue during several sneak attacks by The Shield, Ryback says Cena failed to return to the favor when it mattered most first during during Ryback's title match against Punk and then again during the final moments of a losing effort against the black-garbed trio at Elimination Chamber.

Ryback has since portrayed Cena as a self-preservationist who has little regard for those around him. Even though members of the Cenation would likely take exception to that portrayal, given it was Cena who advocated for Ryback’s first title match at WWE Hell in a Cell, one must wonder whether The Champ will suffer the consequences of his perceived missteps when the bell rings on May 19.

With their friendship perhaps irreparably frayed, Cena and Ryback are headed for a collision course at Extreme Rules, and questions about the big fight abound. Will the omnipresent Shield get involved, or was their April 15 assault on Cena part of an agenda that’s wholly unrelated to the WWE Title scene? Will Ryback maintain focus on winning the match and the championship gold, or will he enter St. Louis’ Scottrade Center with a primary objective of punishing Cena? Most importantly, is The Champ’s 11th WWE Title reign destined to end prematurely, or will the Cenation leader stop Ryback in his tracks?

The WWE Universe can witness Cena and Ryback’s WWE Championship clash when Extreme Rules airs on pay-per-view Sunday, May 19, at 8 ET/5 PT.
