The drama for a career changing announcement on last nights RAW started early. WWE issued an alert about 7:00 that Daniel Bryan had a major announcement regarding his career. For almost 3 hours (counting the pre-show) we watched announcers hype it as the potential end of Bryan’s career. In the end it was not we will be seeing much more of Daniele Bryan. But a career did come to an end last night, with no big announcement; no video marking the highlights of his career, just a simple line muttered by Jerry the “King” Lawler. It came just before the ten minute mark when Brock Lesnar came out Lawler said “Edge and Christian are both retired”. I like many had thought Christian was fighting thru another injury, which have plagued him late in his career. Later in the show the many concussions Christian had suffered was referenced to his reason for retiring. So as I reflect back I wonder why? Why he was not allowed to make a big announcement like Edge? Why was there no tribute video? Why was there not more?
Edge and Christian’s career have gone hand in hand eventually becoming one of the greatest tag teams in the history of the sport. They held the WWE tag titles seven times. That said the number of titles was not what made them great, it was their willingness to give 100% every night. When you say the letters TLC you think of Christian and the ones he fought against and with, in those battles. Every match Christian put his body on the line, suffering injury after injury, but coming back each and every time. We can debate what his greatest match was; the true question is was there ever a bad one? Christian was a well accomplished tag team wrestler in his first run in the WWE. He also held the Intercontinental and European championships in his first run.
In 2005 after leaving the WWE Christian made his debut in TNA wrestling, as Christian Cage. He would win the NWA title for the first time in 2006. He stayed in TNA performing at a very high level until he once again he changed companies, this time to go back to where he got his start the WWE.
I won’t list all his matches and talk about all his achievements, but it needs to be pointed out he has never been a wrestler that was just there. Every time he walked to the ring you couldn’t help but watch. He was highly entertaining in and out of the ring. Last night on RAW once again showed us the great chemistry he and Edge had. But let’s not forget the time he spent with Chris Jericho, another wrestler he had great chemistry with. It seemed no matter who you paired Christian with in WWE or TNA he was always entertaining.
Christian held the WWE tag team championships 9 times (7 with Edge), the
Intercontinental championship 4 times, ECW championship 2 times (WWE version), NWA championship 2 times, and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship 2 times. There are seven other championship reigns I didn’t mention with smaller titles.
Christian was a constant professional, and I feel he deserved a bigger send off then a quick line, and then a briefcase shot to the gut. Christian is without a doubt worthy of the WWE Hall of Fame. I myself look forward to the day Edge stands on the stage and inducts “Captain Charisma” into the HOF. For now I will be satisfied with being able to say I watched the beginning and the unfortunate end of Christians Career.

WWE Superstar Christian has reportedly been ready for some time to return to the ring after suffering a mild concussion in March however, WWE officials see him as "fragile" because of his age and his past history of being injury prone.
The belief is that he is pretty much done in the ring and could transition into an agent or producer role but the company have not offered him that option as yet according to Dave Meltzer of
